Institutional capacity-building Training provided to emerging CSOS in Mekelle, Northern Star Hotel

With financial support from the French Development Agency (AFD) and CECOE, Bright Future successfully conducted a three-day institutional capacity-building training in Mekelle from 28 to 30 March 2026. The training was designed to strengthen the capacity of newly established and emerging civil society organizations (CSOs) working in human rights, peace-building, and protection.

The sessions brought together 15 participants from five CSOs, including finance managers, HR officers, and program coordinators. Over the three days, participants engaged in practical learning focused on building strong organizational systems, improving governance, and enhancing accountability.

To ensure the training translated into real organizational improvements, Bright Future provided an additional ten days of tailored mentorship support. During this period, the participating CSOs received hands-on guidance to develop essential institutional documents, including financial, procurement, and human resource management manuals.

This combined approach of training and follow-up mentorship significantly strengthened the internal systems and operational capacity of the participating organizations. As a result, these CSOs are now better equipped to operate effectively, uphold accountability standards, and sustain their work.

Overall, the initiative has reinforced the institutional foundations of the targeted CSOs, positioning them to play a more impactful role in promoting civic engagement, human rights, and peace-building efforts across the Tigray region.
